I'm excited to say that I've been working for A Simple Life magazine for almost a year now and I love it! This magazine features primitive antiques and primitive living. I provide the sketches for the Simple Woman's Diary!
Available 4 times a year through subscriptions and select antique and primitive shops. Our mission statement is, "When your magazine arrives in the mail, it will be like getting a letter from an old friend."
Each Issue will feature 2 - 3 wonderful homes, a living history museum, historical essays, short story

I'm excited to announce the creation of Texas Treasure Boxes. These are made from reclaimed wooden cigar boxes, topped with leather then either hand tooled by my dear friend Leland Hensley; or they're hand painted by me! We are selling them on Etsy (the web-site for handcrafted items) and we will be on the square tomorrow morning here in Meridian for the Christmas on The Square Market. We're planning on taking my dad's 1927 Ford Model T Coup to display our boxes on. Each box is unique and great for the hard to buy for person. We take custom orders for school mascots, brands, names, logos, pets, Texas wildflowers, just about anything you can think of!

"Pygmy Goat with Attitude"

I love this little goat, she was so much fun to paint! She was used for the goat tying event at our riding club Play-Day series this past summer. She was a real scrapper and prooved to be pretty tuff to tie. I love her attitude along with her beard!

Woo Hoo! I delivered the 3'x4' oil painting, "Julee's Jewels" yesterday. This painting was a 15th anniversary gift from Julee's employer- how cool is that! It features Julee's donkey Thelma and her goat Gloria popping out of big wildflowers. It was a blast to paint; it brought back fond memories of painting wildflowers with my elementary students :)

WOO HOO! Escaping the stress of Holiday shopping by playing with firey colors in this Bison Painting. Trying to loosen up and have some fun focusing on reflected light, in addition to, juicy big brushstrokes. This was a Bison we saw on our Yellowstone trip. I loved all of the cool wildlife! You gotta go sometime, it's awesome!

Just finished this watercolor ptng for some really cool new friends- Bobbie and Scott. This is Bobbie on her big gray horse. We had a blast this summer staying at their beautiful house in the tall pine trees, riding horses- running barrels, trail riding, hanging out by the pool. Scott wanted to surprise Bobbie with this painting for their anniversary next week. I'm not really a "watercolor" painter, however I did find it challenging and somewhat relaxing. Now I'm ready to start sliding around in some buttery oil paint!

'57 Chevy car hood

I left the hood in it's original condition with several layers of paint scratched, chipped and showing in the background. When I went to paint the horse's eye the black paint underneath was perfect with a little white chipped area, so I just left it like that, didn't have to do a thing!

This is a "57 Chevy car hood my dad let me have to paint on. I've seen some really cool hoods painted with bucking horses at several places. My uncle Frank turned 80 years old last year and his family had a big party for him with a slide show of pictures of him in his young and wild days! This is him hooping it up on a bucking horse- the horse was a stuffed horse you could take pictures on! When I saw the picture I knew this was what had to be on the car hood. I gave it to him after it was in a gallery show at Christmas. Not for sure where he's going to hang it, but it certainly is an eye-catching work of Art that I had a blast painting.

Fishing Lure Paintings

Oh my gosh! I'm having a blast painting these fun fishing lure paintings. They were inspired by my 76 yr old dad who loves to fish. Last year for Father's Day I gave him a father/daughter fishing trip down the river. We had so much fun and of course, he caught the biggest fish! We were featured in the local fishing newspaper, so he got a kick out of showing it to all of his buddies at the coffee shop. It was a great day I'll never forget!

Darcy and Rain

This is a painting of a little 4 yr. old girl from our community that was diagnosed with a brain tumor that turns out to be a rare form of cancer that is highly aggressive. She arrived at St. Judes hospital this week in Tennessee for treatment. Survival rate for this type of cancer is less than 10%. Our community has really stepped up to have fundraisers just about every week now for the family (she has a brother and two sisters at home). I just happened to take a picture of her this past year at our riding club playday, this gave me a chance to do a painting for the family. It will be on display during our riding club fundraiser and presented to the family on March 8th. I think this is by far the most valuable painting that I've ever done, in addition to, the most heartfelt. I really am scared of painting people, I kind of fake it till I make, but this is one painting that I just prayed to God to let the paint flow and you know what...it did! Please keep Darcy in your prayers. She's a fighter and a champ! Thank you, Judy
